school cometh
it has been quite an eventful week.
1. school has started! Well, I should add that i went to my economics class on Tuesday, sat in class and watched a janitor lady provide me a pity smile while she said "dear, you know that school starts tomorrow, right?" and i sat there with a blank stare, thinking of all of the hours i could have spent sleeping in and responded, "uhh yeah" packed up and ran out.
but today school actually started, the froshies have immersed themselves, i cannot no longer pin point them, but i think that is a generational thing because last years frosh looked like they were getting ready for middle school. anyway, i may or may not have hit on a guy in my french class this morning, a few minutes later during the obligatory introductions, he said, "je suis dans ma premiere annee" - yeah, i hit on a frosh. sigh. the sigh is not because he was a frosh, it was because, finding out he was a frosh didn't stop me from flirting. yeah, i'm that kind of person.
i've decided to spend most of my study time in coffee shops rather than libraries this year. so yesterday provided me with a great opportunity to scope out some places and pick a winner. I ended up choosing second cup because of its proximity (on bloor, minutes from class), the music was great (blitzen trapper!!!) and most importantly, i was able to steal the Internet connection from the above Hyatt hotel, stickin' it to the man, one crime at a time :)
2. (re)discovered my love for the kings of leon - i should say (re)discovered because my brother, quite a few years ago (i think 3) introduced me to this band but i brushed them aside because at that time i belonged to the church of the strokes and no one was going to test my faith, not even some "kings of leon" But my friend caitie, lured me to their youtube videos, that are pretty much home videos, like when blink 182 filming their last album. well, long story short i gave these Tennessee boys another listen and BAM! I'm hooked. (thanks, caitie!)
3. computer updates - okay, this might not seem like too much of a deal but it is for me because my macbook has been disorganized for so long, i usually take the summer to organize everything to perfection on my mac, because if I'm not organized in reality, gosh darn it i will be organized virtually. but since this summer all i did was more research and even more work, i didn't get that opportunity. I bought iLife 09 - on the iPhoto application, it recognizes people's faces and so if you want to see all of your photos with a particular person, you can!! exciting, except that it literally finds everyone - even the randoms, who always look into the camera and look surprised, as if they've never seen this strange flashing device before.
ummmmm now i'm sitting in the arbor room cafe waiting for a friend and then tonight is martini night with some other friends. should be fun.
OH! and, that photo above, well i discovered a website where you place two people's pictures and you can see what their child could look like. yeah, you read that right. i told you, i'm that person.
so that child is the product of a beautiful night between myself and Caleb Followill (haha, Caitie when i first wrote that i wrote "Jared" -- hmm, Freudian slip, methinks?)
lots of (extra-marital) love ;)
Hi, this is pavel from TD Canada Trust

so for the past few weeks my friend and fellow blogette caitie has been complainnig about the excessive phone calls she receives from a canadian bank called Toronto Dominion Canada (TD for short) They called her to perform surveys and even to sell her life insurance - because she, as all students, having no steady income and no one to support is the prime and ideal customer for life insurance policies, right? - hope you can feel the sarcasm
anyway, yesterday she was over and telling me about how she had had enough and finally blew up on a nice estonian lady that called her on behalf of TD and asked to be removed from their call list.
Now, you shoudl know that Caitie is usually very composed and incredibly diplomatic, so the mere thought of her blowing up on an ant gives me doubts, let alone an actual person.
long story short, i had to find out for myself.
prank wars ensues
i'm working at the reception today, my last day of my summer job/internship. My brother came in as well to watch a movie in my mom's amazing office with a huge screen. I asked him to come over to reception, i dialed caitie's number and asked him to say the following:
"hi, this is Pavel on behalf of TD Canada Trust, I see here that you requested we call you back regarding the purchaseof a life insurance policy with TD"
I then quickly grabbed the phone out of his hands and listened to her reaction which was LEGEN-WAIT FOR IT-DARY!!!
Boy was she understating her ability to freak out. This was her response, keep in mind that she was yelling at the top of her lungs
"no i did not ask you to call me back..." and the rest i do no remember because i was bursting out laughing trying to get out "it's ivana, it's ivana" but i didn't have time because she slammed the phone down and hung up.
i really do feel like a frat boy, after pulling the best prank involving a wedgie, so satisfied.
what a way to enter the weekend.
caitie, the ball, m'dear is in your court
oh and visit caitie here, her blog is a wittier version of mine.

(virtual) grrr.....

gmail is down.
ugh.
modern technology, why must you betray me time after time?
yet i always come back.
i definitely googled "gmail down?" because i like to feel like i am not alone, and i was happy to find out that gmail is in fact down for the entire world wide web.
an article mentioned that the twittersphere was going crazy about the gmail breakdown. i was scrolling through all of the tweets and one said "gmail is DOWN, this reminds me when twitter was down and i hate to use gchat to say that twitter was down"
i laughed, (okay gave my elitist smirk) and thought "oh you poor, poor Internet obsessed soul, get outside for a bit, it'll do you good" now i realize that i'm writing a post on my blog about gmail being down which is the same thing (errr worse?) than that poor soul....i am the poorer soul
okay and now as i finish this post, that song, called "the one" by that 8 year old is playing, LOVE that song.
PEACCCEEEEE
