chocolate
in itself
is a wonderful thing

so wonderful
that it is my chosen food item.

chosen food item?
you know, the food item
you'd choose to have
if you were stranded on an island.
yeah, that wonderful

a while ago i came across
a chocolate bar
with witty packaging
delicious AND refreshing!

i picked up a few bars
now i can't eat them
they've become conversation pieces

the packaging is oh so clever
case in point: BOCHOX
designed to resemble medication
for chocoholics

the description reads:

Relief from the symptoms of wrinkles and crow's feet without ever entering the dermatologist's office. Simply break off the desired dosage and consume; you'll quickly be overcome by stress-relieving endorphins and no longer be concerned in the slightest about wrinkles.

hope your weekend included unnecessary calories,

-m

Христос воскресе!

it's orthodox Easter tomorrow!
Hristos vaskrse! Vaistinu vaskrse!

being the chocoholic that i am,
Easter is always
a much welcomed holiday

calories?
well they simply don't exist!
as chocolate eggs run into my mouth
with their fellow peers not far behind

yum!

every year i plan
to elaborately paint the eggs
express my inner artiste
but alas,
the library awaits, the books need to be opened

oh well!
moms just do it so much better ;)
case in point:
moline's lovely set on flickr

hope your weekend includes lots of chocolate,

c'est le printemps!

spring is here! /
c'est le printemps!
it's harder to study so i've become a social butterfly
but school has clipped my wings
& now i'm back in the library gazing outside
staring at clouds that have finally turned white
i still need to buy my italy ticket
another errand
my conspiracy theory: errands increase during spring months
but the season appeases us with white clouds,
and barely there breezes
so that we barely notice
the extra things on our to do lists
hope your day includes some sun,

some things,
while not practical
are simply wonderful

literary love

great post on funambula
about a collection of analogies and metaphors
submitted by english teachers
found in high school essays

below are my favourites

enjoy!

Her face was a perfect oval,
like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed
by a Thigh Master

She grew on him like she was a colony of E. Coli,
and he was room-temperature Canadian beef.

The revelation that his marriage of 30 years had disintegrated
because of his wife’s infidelity came as a rude shock,
like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free ATM machine.

From the attic came an unearthly howl.
The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality,
like when you’re on vacation in another city and
Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 p.m. instead of 7:30.
He was as lame as a duck.
Not the metaphorical lame duck, either,
but a real duck that was actually lame,
maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.

The ballerina rose gracefully en Pointe
and extended one slender leg behind her,

like a dog at a fire hydrant.

hilarious!

hope your day includes some time for yourself,

-m

Aussi loin que je m'en souvienne j'ai toujours aimé des boutons
les petits boutons les grands boutons

sometimes
the buttons on a dress
the buttons on a blouse
the buttons on a hat
were enough reason
to prompt me
to grab and purchase

i also like the expression
"you make me lose my buttons"
which is also a lyric
by the band interpol <3

video here!

hope your monday is full of things you love,

Image: ici!

spring is coming!

these pictures remind me
of the coming
white clouds
warm breezes
dancing flowers
flowy dresses
outdoor tea parties

i love songs
that make you feel
like you are spinning in circles
on a windy day

i think that if the wind could sing
it would sound like
this song

photo + quotable

i'm good at getting guys to want me. not date me, or marry me, but want me.

— Amy Adams, Sunshine Cleaning.

i think every girl feels like that sometimes

i've been bopping along to this tune
for a while now

the song is so
soft
the video is brilliant

she pays for the bread
and she goes...

nobody knows

i love time lapses

everything moves so quickly
but somethings don't move at all

the sky quickly does its work
day/night/repeat
sun/moon/shift switch/sun/moon

the buildings and streets stand still
lazy, not bothered

i'm about to enter exam studying time
quelle horreur!

now more than ever,
i wish i could fast forward
and make
late nights
pass by as quickly
as the sun switches with the moon

for now though
check out this
video
of beautiful Caracas
where, as the sunday sun rises
mister chavez gets ready for

Aló Presidente!

hope your day includes calorie-filled cupcakes

recently i've been studying
all day
and all night :@

reviewing in the train
the bus
the subway

reviewing while pouring the first cup of coffee
repeating while pouring the second
considering dropping out while pouring the third

music breaks have kept me sane
in particular, i love pressing play
and hearing
MGMT

being the music snob that i am
i will recommend some non-mainstream tracks
but those are great too

"boogie down"
"destrokk"

you know you wanna check out my components

I've been "visibly" (yes I'm looking at you, caitie) away

i've slept
minimally

i had a nasty cold
but was rewarded with delicious crepes

i've studied in the library
and gazed outside the window

i fell in love
with a shop window mannequin

and it snowed.

a lot.

i will be back wednesday when my 15 pagers, exams, reports, and other academic life consuming activities go on a brief vacation.

For now, check out Furr by Blitzen Trapper. great stuff for a lazy sunday

I love my library
it is small enough to be quaint
but big enough to be inspiring
i go to the largest university in
canada
but you'd never know it
from looking at my little library

situated in the snow,
its so silent
the view from the window is of the Toronto skyline
outside there is bustling
there is hurrying
there is honking

but
my little library houses only the sounds
of students typing
of pages turning
and
of occasional crunching
(of those forbidden snacks)

students glance at their watches
knowing that it will be another long night
but as i sit by the fireplace
and look at endless pages that need to be read
i smile with delight
because
in my little library
we're all in this together

little heels, big party

on friday we celebrated our slava

my new heels experienced:
the floor, shaken up from dancing
little crumbs from homemade sweets
flashes from camera lenses;
eager to capture candid moments

dancing and munching
chit chatting
singing
coffee
repeat

at 7am the guests made their way
out of the door
kisses were shared
best wishes expressed
and my shoes and I tip toed
to bed

wishing you much celebration
and new shoes, of course ;)

-m

i hope everyone had a marvelous time
ringing in the new year
and reminiscing about the old year

i hope your night was filled with
popping corks from champagne bottles
the repeated clanking of glasses
drunken shouts of "cheers!"
ambitious resolutions
silly 2009 glasses
extravagant fireworks
and kisses from your favourite people
...and maybe some random ones? ;)

to health and happiness in the new year,
cheers!
-m
