so my mom bought a new volvo suv today and to celebrate we went out for a drive and to dinner. we all threw out restaurant suggestions, but in the end we ended up at east side marios. there were several reasons for this decision, chief among them, me. okay, that was the only reason.
you see my family is always so effortlessly chic, in their dress and mannerisms. i am a bit too lazy so effort is definitely required. nevertheless, my mom came home and asked if we were ready, i replied in the affirmative. after looking me up and down she asked again, hoping that i would run upstairs and brush up, but i was feeling particularly persistent (read: immature) today. i knew that the t-shirt i was wearing had doubled as my pjs the night before and that the same could be said for my skirt (it's been one of those days...okay, weeks) but i jumped in the car before my family could protest. long story short, the decision was that we (..i) were too under dressed for some of our regular trendy spots so we went back to east side marios.
as i was browsing through the menu, i noticed a legend that included the pasta names followed by a description. i glanced at this new found information and made some snarky remark about how you know a restaurant is not fancy when it is aware that its clientele is not familiar with the difference between penne and spaghetti. but as i went down the list, my elitist remarks came to a halt, as i came across a few pasta names i was not aware of.
so at the end of the night, after mediocre pasta and endless garlic bread i came away with some new found knowledge. was it that i should be less judgmental? no, it was that farfelle was the bow tie pasta. but you were close. after all, being judgmental towards little things is what i do, what i love, some would say i thrive on.
night.
